Dr. Robert Hedinger, Executive Search Consultant joined Common Agenda to build on their growing Global Managed Services and Service Provider industry practice. Bob brings over 30 years of experience in all aspects of the Service Provider segment having started his career in engineering at AT&T Bell Labs and progressed through the ranks to Executive Vice President of Business Development & Sales at Loral Skynet.
Enthusiastically building and managing diverse teams one quality member at a time, Bob’s recruiting experience spans nearly all high-tech functions including; Engineering, Research & Development, Product Management, Marketing, Business Development, Sales, Strategy, Information Technology, Project Management, and Operations.
To satisfy his client’s requirements in an array of growth markets of the Carrier Managed Services industry, Bob and his colleagues at Common Agenda follow proven search industry process or “best practices” - ensuring his clients access to top senior professional to executive level candidates in small, mid, and large size companies around the globe. Common Agenda augments Bob’s vast contact network with deliberate, intelligent, and timely research, recruiting and administrative support.
Common Agenda is regularly featured as industry experts at trade shows such as the National Fiber Optics Engineering Conference, and in articles appearing in various publications including; The Wall Street Journal, Light Reading, EE Times as well as numerous regional newspapers and trade magazines.
Prior to joining Common Agenda, Bob provided consulting services to the Defense Technology and Satellite Communications Industries specializing in strategic and market planning, business and product development, and international regulatory matters. He was also an Adjunct Professor at Centenary College where he taught graduate courses in quantitative analysis to MBA students. Prior to this, Bob Hedinger was responsible for the product-to-market functions of Loral SKYNET® from inception to sale. In his tenure with Loral SKYNET®, he has also been responsible for developing the Loral SKYNET® global growth strategy which resulted in a five fold increase in revenue over a five year period.
During his technology career Bob started as a technical supervisor at Bell Laboratories where he managed a group of 20 satellite systems engineers and technicians. He designed the architecture of AT&T's award winning TELSTAR 4 satellites and implemented inclined orbit satellite services for the protection of AT&T’s undersea cables. He then became a district manager of product marketing for AT&T SKYNET® Transponder Services. In this capacity, he was responsible for closing more than $200 million in sales of satellite transponder services to the media industry. He developed a value-added broadcast and syndication neighborhood for AT&T, maintained the highest transponder fill rate in the industry and developed and implemented a highly successful advertising strategy. He then moved into business development for AT&T SKYNET® Transponder Services where he developed a successful business case for the next generation AT&T TELSTAR satellite system, developed a strategic business plan for global growth including a highly successful orbital slot acquisition strategy. He led a US Delegation to several successful United Nations conferences as US Chairman of ITU-R Study Group 4, participated as a US delegate in three Administrative Radio Conferences, and was a Vice Chairman of the US Delegation to WARC ORB’88.
Dr. Hedinger received a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Indiana University in 1966. He received his MS in Engineering Science from Rose Polytechnic Institute, Terre Haute, Indiana. He received his Master of Science in Physics and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Cincinnati.
